I purchased a home in June 24th 2003.
The listing information declared that the property taxes for the house were $3900.
**A: did you confirm this amount with your real estate agent and the property tax office? Also what pro-rated amount was noted on the HUD-1 closing statemment?

This month I received the 2nd installment for the year 2002. The overall is close to $8600
And for this installment it is close to $6400
At the closing the seller gave me the taxes for a year plus 5%; which were $1950 for the 2nd installment of taxes for the year 2002 and the same for the first installment for the year 2003. The seller did not inform me of the assessed value of the house I feel that this is a rip-off.
The lawyer that helped in the closing has been un-available to help.
What can be done?
How can I get the seller to pay for the property taxes difference after the closing?
I feel the real estate agent did not put accurate info on the listing of the house. |
**A: and what does your real estate agent have to say?
