Property Tax Reproration/ReimbursementWhat is the name of your state? What is the name of your state? Florida I closed on a new home and have a signed tax reproration statement from the closing. The amount of property taxes estimated at closing were less than the actual taxes ended up for the year. However, because I paid taxes early in November I received a discount off the total tax amount due. My question is, is the seller obligated to reimburse me the difference based on what the total tax amount is or the upon the discounted amount I paid? |

The proration is figured on the amount that was paid.

I would say that the seller is not obligated to pay you anything since you are now liable for the taxes. Any money left over will probably stay in your escrow account to be used for next year's taxes. |
