Purchasing land and a home on my own? What is the name of your state? FloridaComic Sans MS My neighbor agreed on a purchase price for her 2/1/2 acres of land with a mobile home and some small buildings on it. I am going to pay cash becacuse it is not that expensive. Do I need a lawyer to draw up a contract? Or can I just give her the money and then go to the title place and have it transfered? If I have her sign a paper stating that she will be liable for any leins or other incidendts that may come up would that work in a court of law if I don't get a title insurance? I checked on the taxes on the place and they are current. Can the average Joe check and see if there are any leins on the property or home. Or does this have to be down by an attorney? Last, would I have to have the place surveyed? Any answers you can give me would be greatly appreciated. I am going to make my move in the next couple of days Please reply asap/ Thanks for any help you can shed on this matter. Jack |

| I'm not a lawyer. I wouldn't even attempt such a deal on my own. There is just too much that can, and usually will, go wrong. I don't think that you don't need a real estate agent or realtor though, just find an attorney that specializes in real estate that you can both trust and agree on and let him/her handle the necessary paperwork. Good luck! ![]() |
