Question about abandoned oil tank

What is the name of your state? NJ

We purchased our home a little over 3 years ago. We are now planning on selling the home and have been doing some yard work. While removeing ivy on the side yard we discovered what looks like the fill line and vent pipe of an old oil tank. We had NO clue was even there. We went through our paper work from the purchase of the home and there is NO mention of it in any of the paper work. We called the Title company and they just said contact a lawyer. We don't know what to do from here on out. Are we responsible for the removal and testing of the tank? Would it be covered under home owners? Could we go after the previous owners?
