Seller is backing out of sale

What is the name of your state?
State-California
This is my first post to any kind of a thread in my life so I hope I'm doing it correctly.
I am a first time home buyer. A single realtor represents me and the owner.
I entered escrow and made a 1000$ deposit with the title agency for the purchase of a 1/3 completed house, as is, which stopped construction 3 mos earlier due to a develper/contractor disagreement.
Escrow was to close June 24 but the title company wouldn't provide title bc owner could not get contractor to provide proof of no future liens. I then found out the owner and contractor had been in litigation previously but when the litigation ended, the owner thought everthing was ready to go.

Now the realtor tells me that the owner is going to construct the houses and sell them at a later point and wants to end the agreement. The realtor has lined up a contractor for the owner to do this.

I'm disappointed bc I've spent easily 100 hrs researching this purchase, $300 on evaluations by contractors and taken out a private loan to buy the property. Moreover, I think the house was well priced.

I wonder whether the owner may have recognized he could make more money by selling the house after construction and is backing out for this reason. Overall, I have a sense that the owner has been disingenous bc he has vacillated many times during the escrow.

I'd still like to buy the property.
Legally, what are my rights?

Thanks for your help!

**A: have an attorney review your contract to determine your rights.
