Due to some changes, we want to cancel the contract to sell our home. The contract does not say under what circumstances it can be cancel without penalty. Can anyone help me with what reasons are deemed to be acceptable? Thanks.

What type of contract did you sign? The standard Realtor listing contract includes termination provisions.

What are the typical cancellation provisions that allow the seller to cancel the contract? Thanks.

Why are we playing round Robin? I ask a question, then you respond with a question.

we are not being allowed to cancel our listing agreement as of yet, my dad's realtor suggested we raise the asking price to over $1 million, a very unrealistic price for our home.

Here is the problem that you both have. You are not reading your own contracts that each of you respectively signed.
You pose questions on this forum without first reading your obligations as set forth in the terms and conditions of your contracts. Please do some reading.

hi wendywendy,

what happened? did you get out of the contract? we're now in the same situation (wanting to cancel the contract to sell) and would greatly appreciate any advice/insight you could offer.

(btw: i did read my contract, but i really don't see any provisions in it regarding seller cancelling).
