| illinois-dupage county. My boyfriend and I purchased a home 3 years ago. The relationship has gone bad and for safety reasons I have to move out. He refuses to buy me out and/or sell the home. I cannot afford to rent a place and pay mortgage. What can I do to protect myself if he does not pay the mortgage? I put up the downpayment and cleared up his bad debts. I cannot afford to just sign the home over to him. What recourses do I have? |

| File court action against him and request a partition sale. The Court will order the property sold and the profits, if any, divided equitably. |

selling home/illinoisWhat are the steps I need to take to file this court action? Should I hire a lawyer or is it easy enough to do myself? Can I still move out without paying mortgage if he defaults? Thank you for replying. |

| You need to hire an attorney. If you move out, you are still liable to pay the mortgage. |
