tax implications of joint tenancy

What is the name of your state?Missouri

My boyfriend and I are purchasing a home and I am looking for advice as to how we can deduct the interest--is it better for us to title it as joint tenancy or tenants in common (or does it make a difference)? Can we each take part of the deduction in either scenario? Let me know if I should post to the tax group instead. Thanks.
