Trying to purchase a home

What is the name of your state? Louisiana

My boyfriend and I have been looking for a home for over 8 months now. He did get pre-approved and when we pulled his credit report to make a long story short . He had 2 judgements on him from 1999 and 2000 that total $15,000 that is with the intrest in them.
We were told we had to pay these judgements off before a home could be closed. We both contacted the the collectors and got alot of information yet we were going in nowhere. We hired a lawyer and have already given her $2000 and NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE AT ALL******************************************....He does want to pay off the debts the original amout owed was $6000 now its $15,000.

Can we purchase a home in a parish where the judgement were not filed and close. We have been told that but I'm sure how to go about doing that. I do know we can not purchase a home in the parish we live in now.

Any information would be very helpful.

Thanks,
Angie2007
