My wife and I have found an uncovered well (or other well-like structure) in our very small back yard. We literally walked through the lawn -- its a very dangerous situation. We bought our house about a year and a half ago and had never been made aware of its presence.

We have received a wide variety of advice on what we need to do and what is required by law. How do we find what we are legally obligated to do in regards to the well (or whatever it is)?
