X boyfriend wants money

What is the name of your state? CA

boyfriend and girlfriend bought a home
At this time I do have an attorney but am seeking more advise- opnions.

I met this guy around 3 years ago and he lived in an apartment. About 8 months into our dating he was evicted and asked to stay with me in my home till he got on his feet. Well it ended up he moved all his stuff into my home basically crowding us all out, and we decided to buy a bigger home and live together.

I sold my home and at the time my credit was a bit on the bad side. I placed 78k down on this home we got together, not to mention I paid off 9k worth of his debts. He got the loan and also placed 5k down on this home. I some how was written out of escrow by an amendment I know I never signed. Then he had 100% of the house in his name. 1 month latter he quitclaimed the house and we are now 50/50.

In this years time he had promised to marry me and I saw this was never going to happen due to the fact the minute we moved into this house he became controlling and manipulative. I also stayed home and cared for our 5kids and worked part time. He made the payments on the house for one year. He has been out now for 6months and we can not agree on a settlement.

I am at this time making the payments on the home. He is fighting me for 50% of the equity at the time he left. I do not feel he earned 50% of the equity due to the Fact he only came in with 5k and I paid off all of his debts. We also agreed we were even in sharing the home responsibilities in that years time.

It seems to be all about the money to him at this point. If it is all about the money then will the judge look at who came in with what amount of money. As well as who is sitting in the home at this time making the payments?
Also I feel my name was forged on that amendment requesting him be on the deed 100%. I feel in ways I have been scammed by this guy. By him promising me love and marriage to get his way into being on the deed to this house.

I know I made a big mistake but we had plans but they seemed to crumble the day we moved in. I also can see if we were in this relationship long term but him asking for 50% of the equity at the time he left to me sounds completely unfair. What are my chances in fighting the deed as to the fact he did not contribute 50% of the down payment why should he be entitle to 50% of the equity. Yes h made the payments for a year but in all fairness taking care of 5 kids and a home and enabling this man to get up and go to work each day holds value as well.

Just looking or more advise. Also just realized I may have placed this thread in the wrong place so moved it to this thread.
