This is a question for New York law.
After a man has been married for ten years to a woman who already had kids when they got married and whose former husband has been supposed to be paying child support (even though he doesn't always do it), is the man (i.e., the step-father) going to become responsible for paying support to his step-kids?
Of course in this case the children were in the custody of their mother and living with the step-father during those 10 years.
