Child custody for unmarried mothers from state to state

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Illinois/Alabama

Help! I have two children with the same father. They were both born in Illinois and he is from here. We have just ended our four year relationship and I want to move to Alabama with the kids. He has not provided any financial support for them while we were together. I want to know what my rights are? His rights? The kids? Please, please help me.
