Childsupport Who's Income Counts - Grandchild Childsupport

What is the name of your state? Missouri

Help?? We were just awarded Joint Custody of a Grandchild with the Primary Physicial Custody to us. However the part concerning Child support Obligations isn't finished yet. When figuring the financial part of this, does the state of Missouri always take into consideration the grandparents income and if so why? Shouldn't it only be the parents income considered in regards to support of their child. Does anyone know how I can get to that paticuliar Case Law?
Both parents are well over 18, abled bodied to work, have other children and cannot claim the Elizabethan Poor Laws.

Yes, they do. The why is this.... You are considered the "custodial parent". You have primary physical custody of the child. Missouri uses a shared income model for child support. They take the CP's income (yours) and the NCP's income (your son/daughter) and there is a percentage, based on a scale that they apply to each "parent". You can look at the Missouri state code... RSMo 452 to find the explination for child support.. copy and paste this link into your browser:

Just don't paste the parts that say and The one you need to look at is 452.340.

You are the one with custody, so you are looked at as a "parent" when it comes to child support calculations. Hope this helps some.
