does alabama state law require a defendent to be supenoed before having to appear in court?

The petitioner can attempt to serve you to appear in court, if your address is known, I suspect if they are unable to locate you after a certain attempts than a court judge can proceed without you. If its pretaining to child or other support, its the responsibilty of the obligator to keep the courts informed of any change of address
