We live in Ohio. Does anyone know, if a parent (mother) does not show up for a custody hearing (she is signing over to the father) for any reason, what happens? Do they go ahead and sign the papers without her and give custody to the father as planned? Is she in contempt of court?

if the papers have been properly served and you were aware of the court date and just don't show then you are basically screwed.

you are showing the judge that you do not have an interest in your child and the decisions will be made without you.

basically the ex will get whatever they want. you have no rights to complain or be upset over it because you were a no show.
