What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? CALIFORNIA

Title pretty much says it all- I am unmarried but living with the father of my 3 children. My boyfriend pays rent and utilities, I pay day care, and we split food and entertainment. My boyfriend makes more money and therefore benefits from claiming the children on his tax returns more than I do. But in the event that we separate, will his claiming the children as dependents give him a better edge in court of getting custody than me, or does it not matter? Thank you!

It isn't going to matter. What matters is who provides most of the care for the children - takes them to the doctor, attends school conferences, etc.
