If a father pays child support, does he have the right to have visitation rights to this child? If so, how does this father go about getting the visitation rights? The custody of this child was given to the mother's mother, in which this particular mother has 9 children of her own. Needless, to say the father got the bad end of the whole matter, and when he tries to speak to his lawyer on what he wants, he has to leave a message. Durring the court hearing for child support the father could not even attend the court hearing and was instructed to sit outside the court room nor had no idea what his particular lawyer was saying on his behalf. Would you suggest the father getting a different lawyer to proceed to the hearings on the custodial and visitation hearings?

Visitation and support are usually two different issues. He would have to file for visitation in order to receive it.

You really need to get a new lawyer. WHO instructed dad to sit outside during the CS hearing? He has the right to be present, testify and question any witnesses at the hearing. If grandma somehow ended up with custody of this child, dad needs to be going for custody not visitation. Is there more to this story that you're not telling us?

None of this makes sense. I can't even begin to start where this guy's rights to a fair trial (for starters) have been violated. Fire the lawyer and report him to the appropriate bar association.
