My brother passed away last year and left behind a 1yr old son. The baby recieves social security from his fathers death. The mother of the child has a drug problem, and brought the child to his grandparents house (father's parents) 2 months ago on the grounds that she could not care for him at the time. She has visited him only a handful of times and has provided the grandparents with no financial support for the baby. Basicly, she is living off the social security deemed for her son. The grandparents are happy to take care of the child and would like him to remain with them, but they need financial help. They are afraid if they bring up the money issue, she will take him back for fear of losing her means of living. What is their best course of action?
Thanks for your input
