What is the name of your state? Oregon
Here's my story. My ex girlfriend and I broke 3 years ago and we had son together. She got an attorney right away and they drew up papers saying I could only have "supervised visits" with my son at their house. I thought I couldn't do anything about it because I had no attorney to fight it, so I just went along with it. I don't know why they have to be "supervised"? I have been convicted of a felony assault, but it was a street fight type of thing.
I have never endangered my son ever and I would never put him in a bad situation. I have been abiding by these "supervised" visits since 2001 and my ex will not give in at all. Since 01, I have not been able to take my son anywhere by myself. I even gave my son a life saving kidney two years ago because he needed a transplant.
My ex is using my son like he is her possession and she doesn't realize that he needs his father in his life. I don't have money for an attorney as I am attending college, but I desperately want to be in my sons life. I haven't seen him in 5 months because I can no longer go to my ex's house where she lives with her parent' (my sons grandparents) because her mom constantly harasses me like asking how much my rent is, do I have a girlfriend, do I have new pants, etc. and I cant stand it!!!
What can I do? I thought people who had supervised visits were un-fit parents like druggies and what not. Any helpful info would be appreciated.
