My nephew, just 17 and his just 17 girlfriend had a baby. They are not married. He is on the birth certificate.
#1 What legal rights does he have?
#2 What does he need to do to secure parental rights in case of estrangement?
#3 As primary caregivers, what does the paternal grandmother and grandfather need to do to secure their rights in the best intrest and welfare of the child? What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)?

The grandparents have NO rights and need to step back.

Dad also has no rights until he goes to court and files for custody/visitation. Until a court order is in place, the ONLY person with legal rights to the child is mom.

And that little funny legal step in Georgia called "Legitimatizing". TeenDad will have to do that, too.
