I really want to adopt a child, as I cannot have children of my own. My husband, who has two children from a previous marriage and got hit up hard for child support while they were little, will only agree to the adoption, provided that I sign an agreement that he will not be held liable for child support payments later, if we were to ever get a divorce. Is this legal?

Not gonna happen. You don't get to waive future support. Sorry. Sounds like your choice is pretty much remain childless and married, or divorce him and adopt as a single person.

That is some piece of coldhearted work you are married to
Divorce him and find yourself a REAL man.

Or divorce him and adopt without anyone else. I know MANY, MANY single adoptive parents!!!
