Our daughter turned 18 July 1st and moved out of our home.

She has decided to enroll in a High School to complete her diploma. The school said we, as parents, must "officially document" that she has "moved out".

Since she is not in our custody and lives on her own somewhere, hasn't our gaurdianship of her been negated? I don't understand why we need to "officially document" anything; she has her birth certificate and social security number card, lives somewhere else and makes all her own decisions.

What are we legally responsible for? Do I still have to worry about being financially resposible for her, too? She decided to enroll in high school; what are our legal responsiblities in that decision she made? What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)?

One would assume she had a different address (with perhaps utility bills etc) to yours, yes?

Is she living alone? Supporting herself?
