What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Florida

A Family member recently passed and she was collecting back child support from her ex-husband for her son. Now that she has passed, do those payments go to her son legally, or what?

Nope.

His guardian/custodian (assuming it's not Dad) should be receiving the payments, although this person might need to jump through a few hoops to have everything changed over.

(assuming the child is under 18....if the child is over 18 the payments stop, period. CS is to reimburse the parent, not go to the child)

Legally those payments go to HER ESTATE. And then it woudl be divided among her estate per her will if she has one, and if not, then through intestate succession.
