What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Missouri

In family court, how are braces viewed? Cosmetic or necessary?

Yes. They're cosmetic or necessary.

You're welcome (and if there's a real question, have Dad come here and post himself. It doesn't involve you).

And two different orthontists may have different opinions.

It is never wise to proceed with any ELECTIVE medical proceedure without first obtaining at least a second opinion. Orthodontia ranks high on the list of "different professionals approach differently". They may differ on recommendations, needs, cost. One may say retainer and braces, one may say this appliance THEN retainer and so on.
