my husband is currently in communication with monterey county regarding child support for his son. Turns out, his ex has applied for calworks because she lost her job (again..) he is terrified that they will take half of his gross income, if she receives the max benefit (i believe almost $650), does he have to pay it all? Plus the $50 disregard? Just trying to get an idea of what our income will be looking like in the coming months.

Thanks

Generally the child support amount will remain the same, but the state will keep the child support as reimbursement for the cash assistance the parent is receiving.

And in this case, it would be in partial reimbursement for the cash assistance, since that is higher than his child support.
