What is the name of your state? Maryland

I am in a middle of a child custody case, which will going to trial at the end of April. My discovery period has ended. My ex-spouse's lawyer wasn't able to get information via discovery and has ordered me to a deposition at this office. He gave my attorney 7-10 days notice. I have no problems going to one but I can't make it to the day and time he picked. My ex-wife's attorney is adamant that I go on this particular day since our trial is so near. So my question is, in the state of Maryland, can I defer the deposition to another date? A family atty friend said that in depositions, you have a one time chance to defer. But I wanted to confirm. Any help would be appreciated. What is the name of your state?
