What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? MA

Not sure if this is the right thread...

I am an unmarried mother, have a daughter, have never been married to her father. he is on the birth certificate, does not pay child support, I pay for everything. My job has given me the green light to relocate to South Carolina (I live in MA), we have no court orders in place, am I ok to move without telling him? I would let him know once I got settled, he has even verbally told me to move if I ever needed to due to finances. He also just got out of prison. I am trying to do this correctly, but I can't live up here without any financial support and he has no means to even help provide for her. Do I have to tell him before I leave?

You cannot hide his child from him. You need to let him know your new address. But you don't need his permission to move.
