Question

child care included in monthly support how long?

What is the name of your state? Maryland
My husband has been paying childcare that is included in his monthly support for
9 years. At the onset, his daughter was 5 and his son was 2. She was in daycare after kindergarten & summer, he was in daycare all day.
His daughter is now 14 and son is 11. She hasn't been in childcare for 2 years and he is only there 1 hour after school and in summer.
Shouldn't the childcare included in his monthly support total be reduced????
Also, if so, is there any retro pay due back??
THanks,
KimiMama

Has child support itself ever been increased/modified in the last 9 years? If it hasn't, your husband needs to do some serious research before opening up that can of worms. If his income has increased, particularly if it has increased significantly, then he could end up with a higher, possible MUCH higher child support amount if he goes for a modification now. Yes, the daycare may go away, but his based child support could increase more than the decrease in the childcare.

Child care costs may have increased as well... so what is being paid for after-care for the youngest could be the same as what was being paid previously for the combination. I know that 10 years ago when I was paying for full--time care for an infant, it was $60/week. Now, the same daycare center would charge me $185 for the same care.
