I'm trying to find out what the law is regarding a custodial parent who wishes not to file for child support. Is it in fact mandatory that support is ordered by the court even when the parent has no desire to file for support, and wishes only for final decree. The answer to your question is found in the Texas Family Code,CHAPTER 154. CHILD SUPPORT SUBCHAPTER C. CHILD SUPPORT GUIDELINES § 154.124. AGREEMENT CONCERNING SUPPORT.

If the court finds that the agreement between the parties is not in the best interest of the child, it can order support based on statutory guidelines.
