Nothing has been filed yet but I've been giving them money anyway. I was just wondering when they start accruing it so I'll know if the payments I've been making are going to be taken into account.

That is certainly the responsible thing to do for your child(ren), however:
- Most funds given directly to the custodial parent will be considered gifts, and will not apply toward the support obligation.
- Until there is a child support order, there is no support obligation.
- The amount of support, as well as any additional amounts for insurance and childcare, will be determined by state standards.
