The custodial mother died in Nov. Child support ceased when the youngest daughter turned 18 last Spring. The father was behind in his child support payments. What happens to the back amount owed? Does he still have to pay someone? Does the support order get closed?

I believe that the money would still be due, to mom's estate and to the kids as mom's heirs.

However it would be wisest to consult a local attorney to verify that.
