Dna Proof For Social Security Benes

What is the name of your state? CA Would there be ANY DNA left behind at hospital and/or Coroner's of person that died and was cremated approx. 6 yrs. ago? Need to prove person was in fact father of children because his signature was never on the actual birth certificate. He never denied he was the father, but was an absent parent due to the AFDC laws at the time of birth. He was in the military (Army) during the Vietnam War.

If they determined the death was of natural causes, I doubt they'd have retained anything. But DO check with the coroner's office. If there was a criminal case, they may have retained something.

are there any living family members?

They can also test dna from the parents or siblings if there are any family members willing. It isn't as accurate but is generally acceptable as proof.

Do you have any of the documents naming him as an absent parent? Any proof of child support prior to his death? Any next of kin who can verify the relationship? These may all help.
