If the other parent files for child support and a court orders that you have to pay child support then yes, you will have to pay child support, even if no divorce is filed yet.

A court can order to pay support even without filing for divorce.
You do not have, legally, to pay a dime without a court order. If your STBX is on government assistance I do not advice you to pay her cash without court order. In that way she would not have the temptation to defraud the welfare system.
