establishing paternityWhat is the name of your state? Missouri I currently live in missouri but all the legal stuff went thru north carolina. The child still resides in NC. When the child was born i was in iraq when i got back the mother had told me to sign the paper work to establish paternity or i would not be able to see the baby. So i went to the court house and signed the paper work establishing paternity. Now i am having alot of questions about paternity becuase of stuff i had heard about her. Does any body know if i could get a court ordered paternity test and get the paper work i signed revoked. And if so i also pay $500 a month for child support. If she lied to me about paternity is their a posibility that if the kid isnt mine that i could get that money back? |

| How long ago did you sign the paperwork? Why did you sign the paperwork because that in and of itself gives you NO RIGHTS to see the baby? What have you heard? How were you coerced in to signing the paperwork?

| I signed the papers that established paternity in april/may of 2003, when the baby was a couple months old. I signed the paper because my ex told me that she would keep the baby from me if I didn't sign them and I didn't want her to do that. Signing the papers was saying that I am the father to the child without a paternity test and I didn't know my rights or anything then and my head was in a different place because I had just gotten back from iraq and my grandfather just passed away and all I wanted was to start a relationship with what I thought was my child. I was not married at the time the child was born, but shortly after married the mother and we divorced not too long after that since she could not stay faithful. Now she keeps the child from me completly and when I try to see him, she puts up a huge fight and always makes it so I can't see him by lying to her lawyer. I would just like to get a paternity test to make sure he is really mine and do not know how to go about doing that. |

Here's an ideaCall North Carolina and ask. Google "North Carolina Child Support," and their child support service site should come up. You may also consider contacting Legal Aid in North Carolina to see if they can tell you if you can still request the paternity test and how do you go about doing that. Will you get your money back? I can tell you right now that the answer is NO . Quote:
