Full Sevice Case (Attny General's office)??

What is the name of your state? TEXAS

I'm hoping someone can tell me what the difference is in a full-service case with the Attorney General's office and one that is not. My husband called to ask if the A.G.'s office could see if a modification could be sought (since one he's never asked for it before) and he was told his case wasn't a full service one, but they would send out paper work for him to apply for it to be.
Has anyone had experience with this? If so, could you tell us what to expect?

Thanks!

Enforcement and collection goes through the OAG, but not all orders originate there.

Were dad's order set up through a divorce decree?

I can tell you to expect a long wait for the OAG to move on anything. What kind of modification is dad seeking?

Yes, but they agreed on said amount, so it wasn't set up through the court. He wanted to be out as quick as possible, so it is far less than what the state allows.

He is seeking an increase. Would it be worth our time (not to mention money) to hire a private attorney to get this done?

Thanks for the info! Any amount is helpful!

If you have the money to hire a private attorney, yes....it would be worth it. I applied for AG services to establish paternity and seek child support in August 2006. It took until Dec 2006 before they even filed a petition with the court. That was one year ago. My final hearing is set for three weeks from now.

The OAG handles tens of thousands of cases......so you must "get in line". Most attorneys offer a free consultation. Have your husband contact one. If it is worth it, your attorney can file a motion for child support modification in the original divorce case and get a hearing within a much shorter time than the AG.
