What is the name of your state? CP-MD NCP-SC

Being that NCP must carry health insurance on child, would it be better for NCP to reimburse CP for the health insurance being that they are in 2 different states or would it be better for NCP to purchase health insurance for child through MD insurance company?

Go for whichever is cheaper.

How will I know how much is being paid for the child's portion of the insurance if the plan the CP has is $507/month for the family?

That's not always the best option. If the NCP's insurance will pay less toward medical care because the kids live out of the companies network, it could end up costing more overall, even if the premiums are cheaper. (That's assuming the NCP also pays part of the uncovered costs.)

I was thinking that it would just be easier if CP carries insurance and NCP reimburses. Being in 2 different states and not being able to get only the child covered on a plan is difficult.

It usually does work out better that way if the people involved get along. Otherwise, the NCP would pretty much have to take the CP's word as far as the uncovered expenses, since they wouldn't get the EOB from the insurance company. The way they figure the cost is by taking the difference in the amount between the employee only plan and the family plan and divide that by the number of people covered by the insurance (not including the employee).
