What is the name of your state? Texas

How is child support calculated when the one to pay the child support loses their job? Is it based on their most recent salary or on minimum wage? And are they given a specific amount of time to find other employment?

That depends on WHY the person lost their job and if a court order for child support is already in place. Generally speaking, child support is based on the person's earning CAPABILITY. If the person is a board certified medical doctor, but chose to work the drive-thru at Taco Bell for the past 10 years, child support will be based on what that person COULD earn as a practicing physician, not on their income earned peddling chalupas.

No one cares if the person is employed or not, as long as they continue to make the child support payments.
