What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? my state is New York.. I want to know how long will a father have to pay child support if the child has graduated high school and has no plans for college? She also has a child of her own. I want to know what the rules are to keep getting child support for an 19 year old.

In NYS, child support continues until the age of 21 unless the "child" is emancipated (for example: married, working FT and living outside of a parent's control, married, enlisted...). The parents cannot simply declare the child emancipated and stop paying - it must go through the court.
