We really need more information than that.

But, please... if you are not either Mom or Dad? Read the sticky at the top, and then have Mom or Dad come and post for themselves. Thanks.

In a bit of fairness guys i'm going with Stealth2 on this one. We need more info as we dont know if he's been legally declared dad or court ordered to pay support. For all we know this is an angry gf complaining because the love of her life is being a nice guy and paying support even though it isn't court ordered instead of buying her shiny new things. Jes sayin...

But that IS how it works. Dude gets declared legally Dad and gets court-ordered to pay child support.

But what if he isn't either of those and she's upset because he's doing it regardless? Technically then he wouldn't be obligated to pay and we would get to tell gf or fiance or new wife what an superextraspecialfantabulous guy he is for doing it anyway ;)

(But since OP spoke about "how that works" it could be assumed that you're correct )

Ummm, that wouldn't be child support. Technically it would be a gift due to sex. Which could make it prostitution but we won't go there. So, it is a gift to the woman due to the fact that the man was told he had a child and he believed it because he had sex with the woman and he wants to be nice.

Yes, that's technically correct, but Rrevak makes a good point - we really don't have enough facts. If there is a court order for child support, then he's legally the Dad and has an obligation whether he signed the birth certificate or not. That much is clear.

If he's paying voluntarily, then it wouldn't LEGALLY be child support, but most people would call it child support.
