name change and child support

If I change my son's name will his father still have to pay child support? He has not seen him in 4 years and I have only gotten a year of CS in the past 4 years. $95. total last year.
Can I patition the court for the name change or must I get an attorney?

You cannot just change the childs name without the permission of the other parent and/or a judge.

And yes, he will still be responsible for support.
