My wife and I plan to move back to the United States to be closer to my son.

I am now about 10k$ behind in child support.

I just got a gr8 new job.

I would like to make an offer in compromise for my arrears owed so that my wife and I can live a better financial life upon our return to the United States (i.e lower child support amount payed out together) for our present family.

My only concern is that my ex-wife is too ignorant to know what the word "arrears" means

All that she would do is spend the money on a kilo of cocaine. Then "all money gone."

Then she would start to complain that the amount of money she would be receiving is now less and would go to court to go get more.

So the way that I see it is as follows:

My attempt to try and get ahead financially by handing out an offer in compromise could be quickly negated by my ex-wifes' greed.

What do you think?

Is the offer in compromise something that I could do myself, or do I need an attorney for this?
