Recently my boyfriend got a call from a woman claiming she has a six month old baby that belongs to him. She was married during her pregnancy and recently got a divorce. The husband was paying child support but according to her said the baby didn't look like him so had her take a paternity test. The baby supposedly isn't his. She's on welfare. She said that she didn't want to go to the state to get a paternity test. My boyfriend is demanding a blood test and is demanding she pay for it or the state (on the grounds that she could have had other sexual partners). He's had no contact with her since before she became pregnant. And she's only contacted him after her husband divorced her and she has no money. My boyfriend wants nothing to do with the child, no custody, and nothing to do with her. He wants to sign over his parental rights. She found out that i wasn't going to leave him over this matter and she said "well if she's not leaving you then I WILL go to the state". Which is fine..but leads us to believe she's just looking for someone to pay for her and her baby. What rights do my boyfriend have if he is ordered to take a test and if it turns out he IS the father? Can he sign away his rights and avoid paying child support. He's afraid with her not wanting to work and help herself that he will have to pay 3/4 of his paycheck to her. Which is unfair. He's willing to pay child support IF they make him. But wants NO relationship with her or the baby. She also says there is no father named on the birth certificate. I don't understand how there is no father listed on the birth certificate when she was playing the child off as her ex husbands when it was born...and up until the ex decided the child probably wasn't his. To get welfare for a child doesn't the mother have to show proof of a father first? And shouldn't the state be contacting my boyfriend on this matter and not her if the state is already paying child support? This leads me to believe the ex is still supporting the child and she's trying to re kindle a relationship with my boyfriend. Which he says no and he's marrying me and in turn that is making her furious. What should he do?
Wel also know she's diagnosed bi polar and she is extremely erratic. THAT is why he wants no contact with her or her baby. She's also said to be on drugs. We don't want her around us or our future family. And so that's why he has no plans on establishing a relationship with the child if it is his. He's never seen it and it's 6 months old and never wants to. She wants him to be in it's life. Can she force him to? Will the judge look at the fact he wants NO contact?
