What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Unknown where father is.

Please excuse my bad English, I partly speak it and used google translate. I am Swedish and was impregnate by American man. He was in military, is not now. I applied at Sverige Kommun and gave them his name. The family center representative tried to email him, receive no reply. She then sent letter to his home, no reply. Now she send letter to his parents and has not receive reply. I want my child to know his father. I also need the money to support my child. I was told by Swedish court that we would has "default" ruling on him. Will the America honour my ruling? Will he has to pay? What do I need to do to make him sign papers and him pay me support?

Thank you for the time!

Don't flog me too hard seniors but this thread bothers me. Why exactly did you have a child with a man you can't even locate now? Did this man even know you were pregnant? America will more than likely honor a support order but the real issue is him paying. If he's this difficult to find, then the likelihood of you seeing even a dime from him seems slim to none...and I get the impression slim has left the building. Some men never pay. The harsh reality is that this child is yours to support. If you're lucky enough to eventually get money from him then great. If not then you won't be missing much. And if you wanted a father that your son would "know" then you would have had him with someone you were married too.

I thought Sweden has some rather sweet social benefits... Better than we do...
From what i've been told by a couple of my Swedish friends they do. Most births are apparently covered 100% although it can take nearly 2 years to get into any kind of obstetric care (depending on where you're located). She says it makes many in Sweden work harder to plan their births rather than let nature take its course. Now that i'm thinking about it, i'm wondering if this is a troll???

It does, but there are drawbacks - being an immigrant myself, I was surprised to see the US allowing childcare at 6 weeks. In more socialist countries, you can't even put a child in a daycare until 12-24 months (12 if you are lucky) as you are not expected to be working. If you have to work financially, and perhaps she does, then you can be really screwed. Higher benefits don't necessarily cover the COL of these places.

But in Sweden one is paid for much of the time they're staying home. Sweden has some of the most generous parental leave laws in the world. Parents are allocated a total of 480 days per child, which they can take any time until the child is 8 years old. They can share these days, although 60 are allocated specifically to the father. They are also entitled to receive 80 percent of their wages while on leave, although this is capped at a certain level.

Houston, we have a bit of a problem.

Mom, you and the child are in Sweden, yes?

How do you intend to satisfy the issue of proper service?

Rrevak - not sure how long your friends have been gone from Sweden, but 2 year waits for ob/gyn care are virtually unheard of.

?

What is a troll? Im wanting to know what I can do so that he pays for our child, and is a father. Sverige sent him letters to his house, and to his mom and dad (same house from what UNITED STATES ARMY gave us) and he has not responded and family center said that I will get default and I wanted to know how to make it work in the America.

Please clarify something for me:

Has paternity actually been legally established?

You'd have to find him, properly serve him, legally have a paternity test confirm his fatherhood, and file in court for child support.

Was he present at the time of birth in order to sign birth certificate documents? Or any point thereafter?
