Yes. All defendants had counterclaims, over $2 millions in total.

Plaintiff is worth much less than that, all in real-estate and mineral rights.
I agree with Zigner that it would probably be smart at this point to get a local attorney involved.

Update: We won some damages, still waiting for attorneys fees.

Would the other party be able to appeal without posting a bond?

Just found this: A judgment debtor doesn’t need to post a supersedeas bond to begin an appeal. But if a judgment debtor appeals without posting a supersedeas bond or otherwise obtaining a stay of execution, a judgment creditor can enforce the judgment immediately.". But that's Federal!
