What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? PA

What is the correct procedure for obtaining a writ of execution?

We were sued and the other party won in one county and now the sheriff from the county we live in is serving a writ of execution and wants to sell personal property to satifsy the judgement-

We were never notified that we lost the suit nor were we contacted to pay - just the sherriff showing up at our home one year later... Is this right?

Sounds normal. If you would have taken an interest in the case instead of ignoring it, you would have known what was going on. It is often those that show an indifference to being sued that are shocked the most when wages are garnished, bank accounts are levies and property is seized. I would suggest contacting the person you owe money too and work out something to pay the judgment as a way to prevent the siezure of your property.
