can i sue and how


What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? NH

I had a contractor work on restoring my 1700s farm house. he wrote out contracts and never completed a thing, started all the contracts and demanded money. i was stupid and payed some about $50,000 in labor and material. then they packed up and left. i have no furnice, they were paided to buy and install one. no bathroom, and it is 20 degrees F out. my son told me i should sue them but i have no money left to do so and am worried about lossing my home. i am 57 years old and dont know what to do HELP!!!!!

Yes, you can sue, but you may not win, and even if you win, you may never collect the judgment.

You may want to see if a lawyer will take the case on contingency. That way, the lawyer gets paid from what you collect. At least 2/3 of $50,000 is better than nothing.
