can i sue my parents estateWhat is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? ny in 2002 my brother passed away and left his insurance policy to me i purchased a house for my parents and paid off there car and other bills but in 2004 my dad was diagnosid with cancer mom had alzhiemers so i moved in to there house to take care of them i went to a parttime job so i could be there when needed dad passed in 2005 mom in 2009 now my family feels i have no rights to the house that it has to be sold and divided by 5 siblings my question is do i have any rights to sue the estate for taking care of my parents do i have any legal rights to the houseat all besides my 5th [email]grammasandy09@yahoo.com[/email] |

Bottom line; you gave your parents the house. A very nice thing to do. You should have given them a life estate or some other means to allow them to live there and when the died, you would become full owner. So, since apparently you simply put it in their names, it is their estate and must be distributed as I stated previously.

| You bought the house for your parents. It was their property. When they passed, unless there was a will that specified differently, the house became part of your parents' estate and subject to division as the estate is divided. You gave up the right to claim it as YOUR house and sole possession when you gave it as a gift to your parents.
