What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? California

Hi,
My question is:

I was never served with summons and never ever received any calls or letters or any of that kind until last week when someone came up to me and gave me a "Order to appear for examination"

So, I ran down to the court clerk's office and made copies of my case.
It shows that I was sued and default judgement was already made against me.

I looked further and the summons were served to my previous address and thus I was never informed or ever aware of this case.

What is my recourse in this matter?

I have a little over 13k judgement against me.

Please advice me and help.

Thank you.
