I live in Michigan. I am a Veteran that drank the contaminated water in Camp Lejuene N.C., & I now have rashes, & I have 2 kids that have mental disorders, I think that someone should be liable. Can I get help with this?
On August 6, 2012, President Obama signed into law the Janey Ensminger Act, which addresses the health problems experienced by those who consumed and/or bathed in the contaminated water at Camp Lejeune.
Last month, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention issued its final report on the water. The water at Camp Lejeune, contaminated with chlorinated hydrocarbons, has been linked to 15 specific health ailments. The Department of Veteran Affairs will treat all who have been affected adversely by the water. You and your children, in other words, can receive free medical care through the VA.
There have been numerous lawsuits filed against the government, for concealing the contamination, in the years since the connection between the water and the health issues became known to the victims. If you believe you have a private cause of action, you can consult with an attorney in your area for a review, but any claim at this point is likely to be dismissed due to the passage of time.
